Travel Essentials

Before thinking about beach days and surf sessions, make sure you have the basics covered.

1. Your Passport and Travel Documents

Your Passport is the one thing you absolutely can’t forget. We also recommend saving a digital copy on your phone or in your email, just in case you need it during your travels.

2. Travel First Aid Kid

A small travel first aid kit can be incredibly useful. Bring any personal medication as well as essentials such as painkillers and plasters. During the summer months, mosquito repellent can also come in handy, especially if you are spending evenings outdoors. We recommend a mosquito spray.

3. Travel Insureance

While travel insurance is not mandatory, we highly recommend it—especially if you’re planning to surf. Having insurance can provide extra peace of mind in case of injuries, cancellations or lost luggage.

4. Travel Adapter

Good news for most European travellers: Morocco uses the same Type C and Type E plugs that are common across much of Europe. If you’re travelling from outside Europe, don’t forget to bring a suitable adapter.

5. Chargers & Electronics

Your phone will probably become your camera, navigation system, and travel guide during your stay. Make sure to pack all necessary charging cables and if possible, a power bank for day trips and beach days.

5 Things you'll be glad you packed

Besides the obvious travel essentials, there are a few items that can make your surf holiday even more enjoyable.

1. A Good Book

Surfing is all about balance. Between surf sessions, you’ll have plenty of time to relax on our rooftop, at the beach or other amazing places around Taghazout. A good book is the perfect companion for those slower moments.

2. Headphones

Whether you’re listening to music during your airport transfer, relaxing after a surf session or enjoying a podcast while watching the sunset, a pair of headphones is always worth bringing.

3. Sunscreen & Aftersun

The Moroccan sun is strong throughout most of the year. Even on cloudy days, you’ll spend hours in and around the water. Protecting your skin with quality sunscreen and soothing it afterwards with aftersun lotion is essential.

4. Beach Towel & Beach Bag

Taghazout is surrounded by beautiful beaches, many of which are perfect for surfing, sunbathing, and exploring. A beach towel and a simple beach bag will make your daily adventures much more comfortable.

5. Flip-Flops, Swimwear & Surf Clothing

Life in Taghazout is casual. Flip-flops, bikinis, swimsuits, boardshorts, and comfortable beachwear will quickly become your everyday uniform. Pack light and focus on comfort.

Helpful Tips for Your Stay in Taghazout

 1. Seasonal Packing Tips for Your Taghazout Surf Trip

While Taghazout enjoys sunshine year-round, winter evenings can become surprisingly cool at night. We recommend packing a hoodie, sweater, or light jacket for early mornings and nights after sunset.

Summer days are warm and sunny, so lightweight and breathable clothing is your best friend. Think loose t-shirts, shorts and light fabrics that will keep you comfortable throughout the day.

2. Bring Some Cash

Although card payments are becoming more common, many local shops, cafés, taxis, and smaller businesses still prefer cash payments. Fortunately, there are several ATMs available in Taghazout and nearby towns where you can easily withdraw Moroccan Dirhams.

3. Leave Some Space in Your Luggage

One of the most common mistakes travellers make is packing too much. Save a little room in your suitcase because you’ll probably want to take something home.

Taghazout is full of small local shops selling handmade products, surf clothing, jewellery, argan oil, and unique Moroccan souvenirs. You’ll thank yourself later for leaving a bit of extra space.

Ready for Your Surf Adventure?

Packing for Taghazout doesn’t have to be complicated. Bring the essentials, pack light and focus on what really matters: enjoying great waves, meeting amazing people, and making unforgettable memories.
